At an early age, Keith Sweat already felt that he would be singing on stage one day. And he did, becoming one of the early founders of the new jack swing musical genre that combines contemporary street music with the traditional elements of R&B and Pop.

He started performing at 14, developing his style of smooth vocals and playing in a band called Jamilah. By the time he released Still In The Game, with the single “Come and Get With Me” featuring Snoop Dogg, he had already had a successful career run with five previous albums.

Fun Facts: 

• Keith Sweat once worked as a brokerage assistant on the floor of the NYSE and as a supervisor for the New York Mercantile Exchange.
• Sweat began his solo career in 1984, singing at nightclubs in New York City.
• Keith Sweat sold three million copies of his debut solo studio album, Make It Last Forever, after its release on November 24, 1987.
• “Come And Get With Me” peaked at # 2 on the R&B/Hip Hop charts. 
• While the original version of “Come And Get With Me” featured Snoop Dogg, the official remix, produced by Clark Kent, featured Noreaga instead.
• The song became Keith Sweat’s fifth and final single to earn a gold certification for selling 500,000 copies by November 9, 1998. 
• Sweat’s success began to diminish after releasing his album, Didn’t See Me Coming in 2000, failed to reach the top forty on the Billboard charts.
• Keith married Lisa Wu Hartwell, a star in the American TV series, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, between 1992 and 2002.
