Duran Duran’s song “Come Undone” was released in 1993 on the album Duran Duran, which is not to be confused with the first album of the same name. This second one is colloquially known as the Wedding Album.
Fun Facts:
- When Duran Duran got together in Birmingham in 1978, the band consisted of Stephen Duffy on bass, Nick Rhodes on keyboard, and John Taylor on guitar. The next year Roger Taylor was added to drums, and eventually Andy Taylor on guitar and Simon Le Bon on vocals.
- The band got its name from a character in the movie Barbarella.
- The Wedding Album was their seventh album. It was also considered their first comeback after the superstardom, which began with the iconic number-one album, Girls On Film (1981).
- “Come Undone” was their 24th single, and it peaked at #7 on the British Pop Charts.
- The lyrics were written by Le Bon as a present for his wife Yasmin and weren’t originally going to be on an album. However, the band decided at the last minute to add it to Duran Duran.
- “Come Undone” is the band’s 8th most streamed song as of October 2021.
- It was the band’s second consecutive single from the album that made it to the US Top 10.
- Duran Duran was Princess Dianna’s favorite band.
- They also wrote and recorded a James Bond movie title track, “A View to a Kill.”
Lyrics
Mine, immaculate dream made breath and skin
I’ve been waiting for you
Signed with a home tattoo
“Happy birthday to you” was created for you
Ah, it’ll take a little time
Might take a little crime to come undone
Now we’ll try to stay blind to the hope and fear outside
Hey child, stay wilder than the wind and blow me in to cry
Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone
Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone
Words, playing me deja vu
Like a radio tune, I swear I’ve heard before
Chill, is it something real?
Or the magic I’m feeding off your fingers
Lost, in a snow filled sky
We’ll make it alright to come undone
Now we’ll try to stay blind to the hope and fear outside
Hey child, stay wilder than the wind and blow me in to cry
Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone
Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone
Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone
(Can’t ever keep from falling apart)
Who do you need?
Who do you love?
(Can’t ever keep from falling apart)
Who do you love?
When you come undone
(Can’t ever keep from falling apart)
