The American R&B group SWV released “Someone” as the second single, together with “Can We” and “Lose My Cool” for their third album, Release Some Tension. 

Fun Facts: 

• SWV stands for Sisters With Voices. The group is made up of members Cheryl Gamble (Coko), Tamara Johnson (Taj), and Leanne Lyons (Lelee). 
• The band originally called themselves TLC for Tamera, Leanne and Cheryl. However, they got notice that the name was already taken and were served a cease and desist letter. Their manager came up with the name Sisters With Voices. 
• “Someone” samples Notorious B.I.G’s top songs from the album Life After Death. Other sampled songs include “The World is Filled” and “Ten Crack Commandments.”
• The song, written by the world’s top lyricists such as Jeremy A. Graham, Harve “Joe Hooker” Pierre, and Kelly Price, features an appearance by Puff Daddy. 
• The song climbed the 1997 US Billboard Hot 100 chart to the # 19 spot.
• “Love Like This” is on the B side of the album.
• SWV received a gold certification in the US. The RIAA recognized the song for more than 500,000 sales.
• The song peaked at # 5 in the US Hot R&B songs in 1997.
• “Someone” charted at number 35 on the 1997 US rhythm Billboard.
• “Someone” is SWV’s last song to peak top charts in New Zealand, Canada, and United Kingdom. 
• The group disbanded in 1998, so they could pursue solo projects. However, they got back together in 2005.
