Today’s Song of the Day is “Flava in Ya Ear” by Craig Mack. This was the first song officially produced by the young rapper back in 1994. It would make its way near the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and would go Platinum before it was all said and done.

• “Flava in Ya Ear” reached the #9 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 list in 1994.
• The song was certified Platinum in 1995 after it sold more than 1,000,000 copies in America alone.
• “Flava in Ya Ear” also received a Grammy Award nomination in 1995 in the category of Best Rap Solo Performance. 
• In 2021, Rolling Stone Magazine listed “Flava in Ya Ear” as the 422nd greatest song of all time.
• Craig Mack was born and raised in New York. 
• He was best known for his time with Bad Boy records as a rapper and record producer. 
• His first single was actually released in 1988. “Get Retarded” was released under the name MC EZ. Not long after that, subsequent songs were released under the name Craig Mack.
• Notorious B.I.G. made an appearance on the remix of “Flava in Ya Year” along with Busta Rhymes.
• Craig Mack left the Hip Hop scene in 2006, turning his attention to Christian Ministry. He did that until his death in 2018 from heart failure. 
• Craig Mack was married and was the father of two children.
