The Romantics drew their early inspiration from The Temptations, The Motown artists, and the Four Tops for their high-energy stage shows.
Under Nemperor Records, the band released their debut, The Romantics, on 4 January 1980; this first tracklist was the first record release of the decade.
The band was famous for strong, well-crafted pop songs and their signature range of looks, from red leather suits to black vinyl.
In 2007, The Romantics filed a lawsuit against the Guitar Hero Encore for featuring a soundalike of this song. The judge ruled in favor of Guitar Hero, stating that the publishing company had taken all the necessary steps.
