KC and the Sunshine Band is a US disco and funk band formed in 1973 in Hialeah, Florida. 

They had a string of No. 1 hit singles. Among these hits is “Get Down Tonight”, the first of their five top hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Others are “That’s the Way (I Like It),” “I am your Boogie Man,” “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty,” “Get Down Tonight,” “Please Don’t Go,” “Boogie Shoes,” and “Give It Up.”

Fun Facts:

• The band got its name “KC” from lead vocalist Harry Casey’s last name and the “Sunshine Band” from his home state, the Sunshine State, Florida.
• KC& The Sunshine Band received 4 Grammy nominations throughout their career.
• KC & The Sunshine Band won a Grammy for the year’s album at the 21st Annual Grammy Awards held on 15 February 1979 at the Shrine Auditorium in LA, California.

• Their second album, KC & The Sunshine Band, released in 1975, was certified triple platinum, with the No. 1 hits “Get Down Tonight,” “Boogie Shoes,” “That’s The Way (I Like It),” and “Rock Your Baby.”
• Richard Finch produced the debut studio album, Do It Good, by the American funk and disco group, released in 1974 under TK Records. KC & The Sunshine Band has had some successes since their first release, with 23 concerts on their calendar this year.
• Although the band’s live shows had up to 12 members playing on stage, the band only had four permanent members: the two founders, Harry Wayne (KC) Casey and Richard Finch, plus drummer Robert Johnson and guitarist Jerome Smith.
