Today’s song of the day is “Night Fever” by the popular 1970’s disco group Bee Gees.
- The Bee Gee’s song “Night Fever” spent eight weeks at #1 in America, longer than any other song at that point. For 5 of those same weeks, another of their song from the same album was #2, “Staying Alive.”
- “Night Fever” first appeared on the 1977 soundtrack for the blockbuster movie Saturday Night Fever. The movie starred a young heartthrob named John Travolta and brought disco dancing into the mainstream.
- Contrary to popular belief, the Bee Gees had little to do with the actual making of the movie. Most of the dancing was shot prior to hiring the Bee Gees. The Bee Gees — then only moderately popular — redid their songs to fit the dancing sequences that had already been filmed.
- If the Bee Gees weren’t involved in filming, then what were the Saturday Night Fever casts dancing to? Not “Night Fever” or “Staying Alive.” The actors were actually dancing to Stevie Wonder and Boz Scaggs songs.
- The Bee Gees wrote, produced, and arranged their own songs, which is rare for popular artists. The group often wrote the songs ahead of time, then wrote lyrics as a group in the studio.
- Barry Gibb, the Bee Gees member who performed much of the writing, is the only songwriter to have had four consecutive #1s in America.
- “Staying Alive”
- “Night Fever”
- “If I Can’t Have You”
- “(Love Is) Thicker Than Water”

( LyricFind)
Listen to the ground
There is movement all around
There is something goin’ down
And I can feel it
On the waves of the air
There is dancin’ out there
It’s somethin’ we can’t share
We can’t steal it
That sweet city woman
She moved through the light
Controlling my mind and my soul
When you reach out for me, yeah
And the feelin’ is right
Then I get night fever, night fever
We know how to do it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to show it
Here I am
Prayin’ for this moment to last
Livin’ on the music so fine
Borne on the wind
Makin’ it mine
Night fever, night fever
We know how to do it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to show it
In the heat of our love
Don’t need no help for us to make it
Gimme just enough
To take us to the mornin’
I got fire in my mind
I get higher in my walkin’
And I’m glowin’ in the dark
Give you warnin’
Sweet city woman
She moves through the light
Controlling my mind and my soul
When you reach out for me
And the feelin’ is right
Night fever, night fever
We know how to do it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to show it
Here I am
Prayin’ for this moment to last
Livin’ on the music so fine
Borne on the wind
Makin’ it mine
Night fever, night fever
We know how to do it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to show it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to do it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to show it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to do it
