Boogie Shoes – KC & The Sunshine Band



Considered a disco/funk classic, “Boogie Shoes” is a song by the disco group KC and the Sunshine Band.

First appearing on the band’s 1975 KC and the Sunshine Band album, the song reached its peak and became a hit after its appearance on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.

Fun Facts:

The song uses the standard ragtime music progression of the sixteen-bar blues, and is common with many of KC and the Sunshine Band’s music.
While Saturday Night Fever dominated the charts, Boogie Shoes was released as an A-side single and reached number 35 in the United States.
It is one of the fifteen Top 100 records the band had during the 1970s.
Numerous films have used this song, some of which include: Boogie Nights (1997), Detroit Rock City (1999), and Mallrats (1995).
While the song was also released on the B-side of their 1976 (Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty, it was 1978 when Boogie Shoes cracked the top 40.
It has been sampled by several artists, including the Bloodhound Gang, Trick Daddy, and Alex Chilton.
Boogie Shoes spent ten weeks on the top 100 of 1978.
The song has experienced another revival, as multiple television shows have used it, including Flash Forward, Sports Night, Desperate Housewives, and most recently, Pose.
