The song was first featured in the movie Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing in 1955 and got an Award for Best Original Song.
The lyrics had to be changed since the studio rejected the older version to be eligible for nomination for the Academy Awards.
Most artists disliked the song, but once the Four Aces recorded their version, it became a hit, and many vocalists came up with their versions after that.
The Four Aces Version became a hit in 1955, where it got featured as the number one on Cash Box and Billboard. It also ranked as the second top hit in the UK singles chart. This was a fantastic version that remained popular and got played on the radio for quite a while
The song was featured in the film Cookie in 1989, and the fans loved it.
Many different artists, including Jeff Lynne and Bing Crosby, have covered the song. Jeff recorded his version and included it on the album Long wave in 2012, while Bing used it for his radio show in 1955.
